Getting ready for the Social Media for Government Conference

I’m looking at the list of attendees for this conference and I’m pretty impressed with the breadth of national-level participants, like NASA, CDC, USDA, IRS, US Dept of Energy, US Army Reserve, FAA, US Army Corps of Engineers, and many more acronyms.

I’m also looking forward to meeting up with the handful of city governments that will be attending as well. Chad Ostroff from the City of Sugar Land, Texas, is sure to give a great presentation. He’s one of the Regional Directors for the National Association of Government Webmasters. I’m also eager to hear the keynote speaker, Steve Ressler. He’s the founder of GovLoop, the social networking site for government employees. This guy was just named one of the “Top 25 Doers, Dreamers & Drivers” by Government Technology. Cool. Or, as I think he would say, Awesome.

I’m personally speaking on “How to communicate via social media with a minimal budget and reduced staff”. I’ll post my slides afterwards, but you can check out my session description.
